Hey, Cougars, Hey!
I am the RSP (k-5) teacher and Welcome back! I've been a part of Etiwanda school system and I am thrilled to support my community and pass on the wealth of knowledge that came as being a student here in ESD.
I enjoy paddle boarding on my days off as well as watching MMA events with my husband of 8 years and our 5 year old german shepherd, Caesar. I love all things space and astronomy since they keep me curious and humble.
I have my undergraduate degree from California Baptist University in Early Childhood Studies and a Masters in Special Education for mild/moderate disabilities. I also currently hold a credential for special education in CA as well as AZ for birth through ages 22. I've worked with students in all capacities from being a preschool teacher all the way to teaching adult GED courses in English and Math. I am coming from Irvine Unified School District where I taught through Covid. I am happy to join Etiwanda for my first year at Caryn.
Teaching is my passion, my hobby, and craft. I enjoy it wholeheartedly and love watching my students achieve things that they didn't think were possible. I believe in supporting learners through reteaching for deficits and natural progression through the curriculum. I am well versed in the CCSS and their scope and sequence which we align all IEP goals for Universal Design Learning. I support students through the learning center model which can be illustrated through push in services into the classroom setting and pull out services for more intensive supports. I also provide students with SEL (Social emotional learning) opportunities through social stories and real world application with peers using district approved strategies to support growth in citizenship within our PBIS school system.
It is my pleasure to partner with your family to collect as many "Aha!" moments as we can.
If you need to reach out to me, my email is maie_maina@etiwanda.org.
